There are many methods and techniques which
proved to be very useful in teaching writing to students. Every foreign language has exceptional features and all of these features cannot be learned
and understood overnight. Therefore, it is the responsibility of the teacher to
identify the shortcomings of the students and come up with a strategy to help
them.
Make your students make notes:
They may include teaching them strategies
to a wide extent, making them write more and more, and follow those useful
strategies. The higher-level students are also considered to be reluctant
writers as they too have not been taught the skills of writing and hence they
remain unaware of them. This shows that you have to be focused on making them
make notes and have an intensive understanding of the language.
Make them learn the concept first:
It is essential to have an exceptional
understanding of the concept. One cannot learn the language without getting the
concept and the background. This will help them in knowing the basics of the
language and they will not feel the need of getting in touch with the teacher
every time to know the meaning of something. They may have an idea of their
topic and have command over their content of knowledge but because of a lack of
writing skills, they are unable to give their best.
Ask them to work on their writing
skills:
By providing students with appropriate and
useful strategies, their writing skills may be enhanced. In the past decades,
seminars and many research studies on writing have been conducted to check if
writing should be taught or not and therefore many writing techniques proved
useful. For example, we have two methods that can be used in classrooms which
are process and product. Some people made the list of steps that a teacher can
take during writing classes. A teacher can follow in process writing which
includes planning, drafting, revising, editing, etc. A teacher may guide
students to self-edit skills. However, it is hoped that the results of this approach
may be useful in language especially teaching writing. Try to engage students in the learning process through
exceptional techniques.
